With a 37-run victory, Pakistan outclasses Bangladesh in the first T20I.
Lahore, May 28, 2025 – Pakistan kicked off their T20I series against Bangladesh in style, securing a comprehensive 37-run win at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The hosts win the three-match series 1-0 thanks to this dominant performance. The tone is set by a solid bat display. Opting to bat first on a dry evening pitch, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 160 runs in their 20 overs. Although the top order couldn't convert their starts into big scores, the middle and lower order stepped up when it mattered most.
Shadab Khan, an all-rounder, played a crucial role, scoring 35 runs in just 20 balls to give the innings momentum. Iftikhar Ahmed complemented him well, smashing 28 off 15 balls to ensure Pakistan finished strongly after a mid-innings slump.
Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed who picked up two wickets, struggled to contain the scoring in the death overs.
Bowling Brilliance Seals the Deal
In response, Bangladesh never truly found their rhythm while chasing 161. Despite a fighting 41-run knock from Liton Das, wickets fell at regular intervals, and the required run rate kept climbing.
The star of the bowling attack was Hasan Ali, making a strong return to international cricket with figures of 3 for 24 in four overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi also delivered with the new ball, taking two early wickets to set the tone.
Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 123, handing Pakistan a comfortable win.
